Improve your Psychic Abilities with the Hormone of Darkness: Melatonin
Doug Pineau

reprinted with permission

I'm writing something a little different than usual here, but of course it will fit in nicely with this site. I'll talk more about the psychic improvement points in a minute, but let's get familiar with what melatonin really is first. I'm not a doctor, so I'll try to explain the effects of melatonin to the best of my ability without having to copy and paste an entire page from Wikipedia, where the scientific aspects of my reference are located. (That's not good, I know, but it's for general reference.) Also, since I'm not a doctor, use at your own judgment.

The Hormone of Darkness...Muahahaha!

Melatonin is also known as the hormone of darkness because it is only produced at night or in the dark. It is a hormone found in all living things, and is produced by the pineal gland. The pineal gland is about the size of a pea and located in the center of our brains. In darkness, the pineal gland produces the melatonin hormone, whereas light inhibits melatonin production. Basically, the more darkness a person experiences, the higher the levels of melatonin that will be present in the body.

Melatonin production is high in children and eventually begins to slow with age. This is a possible factor with people having a hard time sleeping as they grow older. Melatonin is believed to be responsible for anything from curing and preventing cancer to psychic awareness - it's kind of a wonder-hormone. It regulates production of most other human hormones. It works as an antioxidant. It can be used to treat sleep deprivation. It can help with sexual problems. It works with the immune system and plays a part in your weight. It can even help with jet lag. Melatonin has also been proven to show no side effects except for headaches in people who take more than the recommended dosage. I think you understand what I mean here, so let's get to the point.

Supernatural Psychic Abilities?

As you can imagine, anatomical scientists are likely to discount the pineal gland as having anything to do with the supernatural, however, there are tests being done by some that show the pineal gland and melatonin production can influence psychic powers. The pineal gland is considered the physical Third Eye - the ajna chakra of spiritual practices. When psychics and regular people use their intuitive abilities, they are obtaining information directly through the pineal gland. The pituitary gland can be thought of as a radio antenna picking up information from the other planes, which is in turn sent to the pineal gland. Secretions from the glands produce a gritty substance called brain sand, which is similar to the crystals found in wireless receivers.

When we are exposed to light, our pineal glands shrink and less melatonin is produced. Even small amounts of artificial light can have an effect on melatonin production. In blind people, melatonin levels are above normal, which accounts for their ability to use their other senses better than the average person. I've always been a night owl myself, and prefer a dim room to outdoor sunlight. This could somehow relate to my own psychic and astral projection abilities, but that's just a glorified guess on my part.

Seat of the Soul

Rene Descartes, the 17th century scientist, called the pineal gland the the seat of the soul. It very well could be. It gives new meaning to the idea of a third eye, where most psychic intuition seems to originate. Perhaps the pineal gland is something like in the cartoons where you have a tiny alien guy sitting in the head of a robot he's controlling. Okay, I think my melatonin level's telling me to go to bed...

Personal Melatonin Experience

At the time of writing this article, I had yet to test melatonin personally. I tried for a little over a month and then left it alone for a while rather than pick up more. In that short time, I noticed small amounts of psychic activity, but couldn't attribute it to anything more than what I have always had.

Then I had a site visitor email me his own experience. He had been taking melatonin for help sleeping and was trying to figure out if psychic awareness was a possible side effect since he was having an increased amount of psychic activity. He found this site and sent me the email but unfortunately it was just before one of the two huge computer crashes I've had in the last year so I lost that email and couldn't post here.

So I bought more and at this time I've been taking it for roughly six to eight months. At first I was getting the usual psychic intuitions that just felt normal. I've never had overly strong psychic ability, and it comes and goes. After a while, I started noticing more. Nothing major, just little things. For example, I sat at work one day and correctly picked the next three bands that would be on the radio. Songs were a little too precise so I just picked the bands. I was a little surprised, and then I picked the fourth band and I was wrong - but the band that was playing I had seen opening for the band I picked in concert a few years back. I couldn't figure out the fifth band at all so gave up. The fifth ended up being a new song from a band I didn't know. Coincidence? Luck? Psychic? Not sure.

This wasn't a huge, significant, I'm psychic! moment, but just one of many little moments I've noticed with increasing frequency.

Here I am now, and for the last week, every morning just before I wake I seem to have a dream with significance to it. I was dreaming that I had to log on to this site the other day, and when I finally did, I saw that there were a record number of visitors for some reason. I'm seeing stock market graphs going up and down, only to wake up and see the graphs going in the same direction. Normal dream-state intuition? Coincidental dreams? Psychic? Not sure.
